Niagara Ghost Walks slow down considerably in the winter months, as tourists find warmer havens to hang their hats. Yet, we continue to get calls from visitors who are perfectly willing to take a stroll in the crisp, clean winter air for a chance to visit Haunted Niagara.
I must admit, I rather enjoy these off season ghost walks. The crowds are less and often you can hear a pin drop. Intermingled with the random string of Christmas lights and the restless spirits, whipping through the trees with the wind, it is one of the best times to recognize paranormal activity in Niagara.
Between ghost walks, I have been thinking about Christmas and putting up the trees. My Christmas tree arsenal grew a bit last year when I found two smaller pre-light trees for a 'song and a dance' at the local liquidators. I had been thinking about how to theme these trees. I have the traditional tree that keeps the same ornaments (replacing the odd one that inevitably breaks). My Marilyn Monroe tree has all but filled up ,as I get at least one new Marilyn ornament a year.
This year I have decided to have a Niagara Ghost Walks tree. I have been collecting pinecombs and little discarded finds that I have come across during the autumn ghost walks and will probably employ the grandkids to help me make garlands and decorations from them. For the bulbs and ornaments, I did some searching and found some really crazy skull ornaments. I know that skull Christmas ornaments sound a bit morbid, but most of the ones I like are bright and even rather cheerful. My new Niagara Ghost Walks Christmas tree is quickly becoming this year's decorating obsession. Fortunately the tree in question is small so it won't break the budget.
I've compiled a selection of my favorites and you can few these at SKULL CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS
Does anyone have any themed trees that they would like to share with Niagara Ghost Walks? I'd love to hear about them. If you want to send in a pic, I would be happy to post it on the blog.
Niagara Ghost Walks will continue to start at 7:45 pm throughout the winter with reservations. If you're lucky enough to book a slow day and have a private walk, we can be flexible with the starting time. That's the beauty of taking a ghost walk in the winter. As well, make sure to visit the WINTER FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS that lines the Niagara Parkway just around the corner from the ghost walk.
